howto   Delete All Assets from a Listing

After mailing listing forms and prior to billing, you may want to delete assets from listings rolled into the current tax year.  Deleting personal property assets is a little different than deleting business personal assets.  The sections below tell you howto to handle both.

PERSONAL PROPERTY

Go to "List Personal Property".  Go to Menu 71.  Select List Personal Property, press Enter.  The List Personal Property selection screen appears.

Type the Owner ID.  Do not press Enter.

Type the 'Sel' number for DELETE ASSETS into the Selection field, then press Enter.  For example, if the number to the left of DELETE ASSETS is '08', type '08' into the Selection field.

At this point, one of two screens appear.  If there are multiple listings for the Owner, a Listings screen will appear showing all the listings.  If this screen appears, type 'X' next to the listing whose assets you want to delete, then press Enter.  A screen showing all the assets in the listing appears.

If there is only one listing for the Owner, a screen showing all the assets for the one listing will appear.  It is the same screen that appears if you have selected one of multiple listings.

Press 'F4=Delete All' key. The word Verify will appear in the upper left corner.

NOTE The screen assumes that you really do want to delete all assets for the listing.  Pressing F4=Delete All does that.  Although not documented on the screen, you can actually delete one or more individual assets by typing a 'D' next to each  asset and pressing Enter.

Press Enter to confirm your intention. The assets disappear.  They are deleted.  There is no going back or do-over..

Press F12=Previous to return. The Listings screen appears.

Note that the listing is still there. If you want to delete the Listing record itself, type a 'D' next to the Listing and press Enter.  The Listing should delete.  If the listing does not delete, call Cox and Company.

BUSINESS PERSONAL PROPERTY

Deleting all assets from a business personal listing works in concept the same way -- excepting of course that you start with "List Business Personal Property".
